How to Make the Cake Pop Dough?

For this recipe, you actually have two options on how to make the cake pop dough.

The first option is to make it using a food processor. To begin with, blend the large chunks of cakes on the thick and low speed for about 1 to 2 minutes. Then, once it has broken down into smaller pieces, switch to thin and high speed for about a minute. After that, add a tablespoon of water and blend it for another 45 seconds and you will see that the cake crumbs begin to look like a tornado. Just after a while of blending, the cake will now form a dough.

The other option is to do it manually. Break up the cake into crumbs using a whisk or large spoon. Add a small spoonful of icing and mix for several mins until it forms a dough.

How To Make Cake Pop Dough

Ingredients
  

  • Pre-baked Cake
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions
 

Option 1: Food Processor

  • Break up large chunks of pre baked cake or cake scraps. 
  • Start blending on the thick setting and low speed for about 1-2 mins. Stir the cake to make sure the large pieces are broken up.
  • Change the setting to thin and the speed to high.
  • Mix for 1 min and stir.
  • Pulse a few times to really break up the cake.
  • Add 1 tbsp of water, mix on thin and let it go for about 2-3 mins. You will see the cake crumbs begin to look like a tornado. 
  • Add one more tbsp of water and hold the top cover.
  • Mix on thin setting/high speed for about 30-45 seconds.
  • The cake will form a dough.

Option 2

  • Break up the cake into crumbs using a whisk or large spoon. Add a small spoonful of icing and mix for several mins until it forms a dough. 

Notes

The ending result:
Both options form a cake pop dough.
The food processor option will have a much nicer crumb and hold its shape more than the icing version.
