How to make a quick and easy caramel sauce

My absolutely favorite way to make caramel sauce is featured in my caramel apple sauce recipe.  But as a busy mom, I realized sometimes we just don’t have the time to dedicate to standing over the stove.  So I began this quest of making life a little bit easier.  This recipe has been tested and while it’s not the longer pastry chef of making the sauce it’s still delicious.

The Ingredients

1 packed cup brown sugar

1/2 cup half-and-half

4 tablespoons butter

Pinch salt

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

The Recipe

So for this recipe, we only need a few ingredients.  Brown Sugar, Butter, half and half, vanilla and salt.  That’s all folks!  By using brown sugar we’ve “technically” already browned out sugar as we would do in my other caramel sauce. (That’s a joke).

Anyway, so we will melt down our brown sugar, butter, half and half and salt in a heavy bottom saucepan.  Whisk gently for about 5-6 mins over medium-high heat until the mixture becomes thicker.

Cool slightly.  Pour into a glass container (mason jar) or into an airtight container for safekeeping.  Enjoy loves!
